Impact is how we know that our work is making a difference

To create the biggest positive impact with our research, we listen to everyone involved—partners, communities, retailers, politicians, and more. By sharing our results, we stay accountable and make sure that we keep researching what’s important.

Engaging with Stakeholders

To make the maximum impact, it is important to talk to and engage with all the people who might be impacted by the work. These are known as the stakeholders, and may include:

The Public

Members of the public get involved when feedback is needed on new, ongoing, or future research.

They get involved by participating in surveys, webinars, and focus groups about specific research questions.

Industry

Industry partners (like supermarkets) can be involved in sharing data with researchers, but not always.

Collaboration between researchers and supermarkets can often take a long time to work out.

Politicians

Politicians get involved when research can influence law, or when government opinion is useful for the research.

This can be through workshops, targeted reports from researchers, or other meetings.

Shopping Trolley Secrets

To better understand what people think about us using their shopping data in health research, we launched Shopping Trolley Secrets at We The Curious Science Centre.

This exhibition used fun activities to make our research easier to understand and discuss. We are now using public feedback from the event to directly influence our research, including the topics we choose to study and where we go from here!
